Widnes Wild are delighted to announce the re-signing of forward, #12 Luke Alston for the 25/26 season!

This will be Luke’s 3rd consecutive season with the squad, having first made his senior debut back in the 23/24 season, whilst still progressing through the Widnes Wild academy where he joined from Blackburn after the pandemic.

Last season, Alston recorded 15 points (9 goals + 6 assists) from 33 games alongside 2 PIMS for the senior side and also notched a respectable 13 points from 10 games as Captain for our u18 squad. Additionally, he has also gained experience with SNL side, Kilmarnock Thunder over the past 2 years but will play for Widnes full-time throughout the 25/26 season. 

Following his return to Widnes, Luke commented, 

“I’m thrilled to be returning to Widnes Wild for the 2025/26 season. Having progressed through the Wild Academy, this club has been so important for my development, feels like home and I’m proud to continue representing it at the senior level.

Using the guidance of the coaches and the amazing support of our fans, I’m confident we can achieve great things together!”

Meanwhile Head Coach Tom Jackson added, 

“Luke is a product of the junior system in Widnes, which he will still be a part of this coming season. He had his breakout year in the 24/25 season playing with a lot of confidence, producing some excellent performances and putting up some good numbers.

This year will be his 3rd season playing up to the Widnes Wild and given his growth and performances last season, we can not wait to see what he brings to the team this year. The elevation of Luke’s game was one that raised the bar and a testament to his desire to do well, push himself and learn his craft whilst growing into senior hockey. 

The coaching team were really impressed with him last year and we are excited to see what he brings to the table for the coming season.“
