Czeching Back Into Widnes

Widnes Wild are delighted to announce the signing of forward Jakub Hajek for the 2026/27 season.

A familiar face to the Wild faithful, Hajek returns to Widnes after spending the last 3 seasons with local rivals Deeside Dragons and Blackburn Hawks, bringing with him a wealth of experience and a proven track record of success at NIHL1 level.

Hajek first joined the Wild ahead of the club’s historic 2018/19 campaign, playing a key role in the team that secured both league and playoff honours before making the step up to Division One alongside the organisation. During his previous spell in Widnes, the Czech forward established himself as one of the club’s most dangerous offensive threats, recording more than 125 points in Wild colours.

Most recently, Hajek has been a member of Blackburn Hawks who secured the NIHL North Division One League, Moralee Playoff and NIHL1 National division titles during the 2025/26 season.

Now returning to Widnes, Hajek adds proven scoring ability, experience and championship-winning pedigree to Tom Jackson’s roster ahead of the new campaign.

Speaking following his return to the club, Hajek said:

“I am thrilled to be returning to the Widnes Wild after a couple of years away for the upcoming season. I look forward to contributing in any way I can to help the team win!”

Head Coach Tom Jackson believes the forward’s return will provide a significant boost to the squad.

“Bringing Haj back is great for the club. He had a great season last year at Blackburn and I know he will be able to replicate this again this year amongst our group.

I can’t wait to see him back in Widnes colours.”

The return of Hajek represents another exciting addition to the Wild roster as preparations continue for the 2026/27 season. His previous success with the club, combined with the experience gained during his time away, makes him a valuable addition as Widnes looks to build on last season’s progress.

Both Hajek’s home and away jerseys are available for £70 each, giving supporters the chance to follow the captain’s journey throughout the season before being presented with his game-worn jersey at its conclusion.
