Widnes Wild are delighted to announce the re-signing of defenceman #20 Bez Hughes for the 25/26 season!

Bez is certainly no stranger to the Wild, having iced over 200 games for the club since joining from Telford Titans in 2014, making this season his 10th with Widnes!

Last season, our assistant Captain registered 9 points (2 goals + 7 assists) alongside 22 PIMS from 34 games and we can’t wait to see our #20 back in action!

Following his re-signing, Bez commented,

“Hello once again Wild fans.

I’m looking forward to the season ahead and returning for my 10th year in a Wild jersey. I have huge excitement for this new season especially after the progress we made at the back end of last season.

It’s exciting to be coming back to continue the progress we made and buying into any new plans TJ has. I’m looking forward to getting back started with the lads after a good summer break.

I can’t wait to be playing back in front of the fans with the amazing support we get.

I’ll see you all soon!”

Meanwhile, Head Coach Tom Jackson added,

“Bez is an experienced player with a lot of pride and passion for the Widnes Wild. He is returning to us for his 10th season, he is a part of the furniture here and has become a true club man.

I was impressed by Bezzy’s performances last year, playing steady, buying in to the ethos and leaving everything out there on the ice for the team. He is a good voice in the room which speaks up and helps guide the younger players correctly into senior hockey.

I am looking forward once again to see what Bez has to offer for us in the upcoming season. Sound defensively and bringing his simple effective hockey into the team to contribute to our performances.”
