The YKK sponsored Widnes Wild are delighted to announce the return of utility player #10 Nathan Britton for the 23/24 season.
This will be Nathan’s 3rd year with the Wild, having first joined back in 2021 for the team’s first ever season in NIHLD1. He is a key signing for Widnes due to his flexibility of being able to play anywhere where he is needed during a game. Previously, Britton had spent his career icing for various Sheffield sides and had been the alternate captain for the Sheffield Senators for 7 consecutive seasons.
Nathan has so far contributed 47 points (27 goals+ 20 assists) to Widnes and has received multiple ‘player of the month’ awards and also received the ‘players’ player of the year’ last season. Without a doubt, Britton will be aiming to impress fans once again this upcoming season.
Joey Coulter said the following on Nathan’s return;
‘Introducing Nathan Britton, a player that demonstrates his ability at both ends of the ice, every night and I mean this guy never has a night off. With the fast pace of hockey mistakes happen naturally but not for Nathan, he is a perfectionist. He reads the play with ease and oozes skill; this makes the game so much easier for anyone that plays alongside him. Brit’s consistency, dedication and skill were all duly recognised last season as he earned the deserved title of player’s player of the year. This award is where your peers judge you from every angle, they measure you at your best and your worst and Nathan Britton was a clear winner. Despite this impressive achievement – he remains modest and humble, always putting the team’s goals above personal recognition.’
Meanwhile, Nathan Britton added;
‘I’m delighted that Joey asked me to return for another season in Widnes. I feel like after last season we’ve got a point to prove and will be working hard to do so.
I’ve been lucky enough to win a trophy each of my last 2 seasons here and can’t wait to get going again in front of the fans and win some more.’
