The YKK sponsored Widnes Wild are pleased to announce the return of D-man #11 Will Harper for the 23/24 season.

Harper joined the wild mid-way through last season from rival NIHLD1 side Sheffield Scimitars. He quickly made an impression on the ice for Wild and finished his debut year with 55 PIMS from just 12 games. Will started icing for Sheffield Greyhounds U16 in the 2014 season, aged 12 and continued through their academy set up until 2019, following to the senior sides of Titans + Scimitars, before signing for the Wild. He played 149 games in a Sheffield jersey over 16 years, amounting 128 points (49 goals + 79 assists).

Player-coach Joey Coulter had the following to say on Harper’s return;

‘I am thrilled to welcome back Will Harper, a talented young player who brings a different dynamic to our squad. It’s easy to forget his age, he already plays with so much confidence and holds immense promise, I am very excited to work with him and witness first-hand the heights he can reach. What truly sets Harper apart is his competitive edge, frustrating to play against with the energy levels he brings, his desire to be successful is crystal clear and he will be instrumental in the hunt for trophies this season.’

Whilst Will Harper stated;

‘Can’t wait to get back on the ice with Widnes this season. My first season with Widnes was great and I can’t wait to get back on the ice for my second season with the lads, to see what we can do this season.’
