Widnes Wild are delighted to announce the re-signing of defenceman, #18 Johnathan Williamson for the 25/26 season!
This season will be Johno’s 4th consecutive year with the Wild, following his move from NIHL 2 side Altrincham Aces back in 2022 alongside club captain Andrew Hopkins!
Williamson is a core member of the squad and plays a crucial role on our blue line, however isn’t afraid to fire, having posted 12 points (2 goals + 10 assists) with 18 PIMS across last season!
Following his return to the Wild, Johno commented,
“It’s great to be back in Wild colours for the upcoming season and hopefully pushing on as a group after the progress we made towards the end of last season.
We’ve got some of the best fans in the league and I cant wait to get to work, putting in big performances and causing some upsets.”
Meanwhile, Head Coach Tom Jackson added,
“Johno has become a rock at the back for us, a steady defender who shows up week in week out consistently. He isn’t a flashy player but is fantastic at doing the simple effective plays required which is something that is lost in todays game at times.
He is a good team guy to have in the dressing room bringing his level and competing on the ice every time he steps foot on it.
Johno is a player you can trust to do the right things and be a good risk assessor on the ice in those vital moments closing out close games.
Jonho was one of the players we knew we wanted back on the team this coming season. I am sure he will produce many great performances again for us.”
