JUMPING INTO YEAR FIVE

Widnes Wild are delighted to announce the re-signing of captain Andrew Hopkins for the 2026/27 season.

A cornerstone of the team both on and off the ice, Hopkins returns for his fifth season in Widnes colours after continuing to play a pivotal role in the club’s progress in recent years. Since being entrusted with the captaincy, he has led by example, helping to establish the standards and culture that continue to drive the Wild forward.

Since arriving in Widnes, Hopkins has become one of the club’s most influential and consistent forwards, registering 95 points in 138 appearances. His leadership and ability to deliver in key moments have made him an invaluable member of the roster and a firm favourite amongst the Wild faithful.

Speaking following his return, Hopkins said:

“I’m excited to be back for my fifth year. Hopefully we can develop on what we built last season and make the improvements to get us further into the playoffs and cup.

The amount of fans and support we had at every home game last year was great and I’m looking forward to seeing everyone back at the rink in September.”

Head Coach Tom Jackson was delighted to secure the return of his captain for another season.

“Bringing Hoppy back was a no-brainer for me as a coach and the organisation as a whole.

Hoppy has been influential both on and off the ice since he came into the role of captain and I’m looking for him to continue what he started this season.”

As the Wild continue building towards the 2026/27 campaign, securing the services of their captain is another important piece of the puzzle. Hopkins’ experience, leadership and consistent performances will once again be key assets as the club looks to take the next step and challenge further up the table.

With Hopkins returning for a fifth season and set to lead the team once again, supporters and businesses now have the opportunity to back the Wild captain directly for the 2026/27 campaign.

Player sponsorship packages for Hopkins are now available, offering a fantastic opportunity for businesses and supporters to align themselves with one of the club’s most influential figures.

Fans can also get their hands on a piece of the action through the club’s Own & Loan scheme. Both Hopkins’ home and away jerseys are available for £70 each, giving supporters the chance to follow the captain’s journey throughout the season before being presented with his game-worn jersey at its conclusion.
