King goes Wild!

Widnes Wild are delighted to announce the signing of defenceman #48 Cade King for the 2026/27 season.

King arrives in Widnes with valuable NIHL1 experience, having previously iced for both local rivals Blackburn Hawks and Deeside Dragons. The experienced defenceman now makes the move to the Wild, adding further depth and consistency to the club’s blue line ahead of the new campaign.

A reliable presence on defence, King will be looking to establish himself as a consistent performer throughout the season, bringing his experience and competitive edge to a Wild defensive unit continuing to take shape.

Speaking after agreeing his move to Widnes, King said:

“I’m really excited to be joining Widnes this year. I’ve heard nothing but good things about the club from lads I know who have played here and the way they’ve spoken about Widnes as a place to play really stood out.

With the team that’s been put together this season, I’m looking forward to getting started, meeting everyone, and being part of what should be a really exciting year for the club.

Head Coach Tom Jackson is looking forward to seeing what King can bring to the Wild lineup.

“Cade is a solid player who will bring some valued experience to the lineup this coming season.

I’m going to be looking for him to provide us with that consistency week in, week out to help us across the lineup each week.”

King’s arrival adds another experienced piece to the Wild defensive group as the club continues to assemble its roster ahead of the 2026/27 campaign. Having already competed for two of the Wild’s local rivals, he now gets the opportunity to represent Widnes in front of the Jungle faithful.

Player sponsorship packages for Cade are now available, giving supporters and businesses the opportunity to partner with the experienced defenceman throughout his first season in Widnes. Fans can also secure a piece of the action through the club’s Own & Loan scheme, with Cade’s jerseys available for £75 each. Supporters can follow #48 throughout his first season in Wild colours before taking ownership of the game-worn jersey at the end of the campaign.
