“Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much…”

Your YKK sponsored Widnes Wild are pleased to announce that the off-ice team is expanding!

Following Danny and Georgia’s first season at the helm, the management team have been working tirelessly to put together an improved structure to strengthen the organisation further going forward.

Firstly, Danny and Georgia have appointed two new directors, Mike Hussey, Director of Operations, and Ellie Newton, Director of Safeguarding & Wellbeing. Georgia will now take on the role of Director of Community Engagement, whilst Danny will become Managing Director.

“This year we are excited to be able to head into the new season with not only a full team of people on the ice, but also off the ice! Danny has known Mike and Ellie for many years, and last season they showed us a great amount of support.”

“They’ve been helping in the background for a few weeks now, and it’s amazing to see how much their passion really shines through.”

”The addition of Mike and Ellie has really broadened our skill set as an off-ice team, and we can see the difference they are making already! We would like to thank Mike and Ellie for taking on such an important role within the club and for all the work they have put in so far!”

Speaking on their new roles, Mike and Ellie said:

“We are both extremely excited to be joining The Board of Directors at the Wild this season! Both of us come from vastly different backgrounds and hope that our experiences combined will allow us to support the club in its continued development as we strive towards success.”

“We have both known Danny now for some 10 plus years and after observing the amazing work that Danny and Georgia have put into the club together over the last year, we are thrilled to have been given the opportunity to play such an important part in the community.”

“The fan base around the club is like no other in the league and we plan to continue to develop the relationship between fans and the club so we can grow as a community. Fans may have seen us in the rink before cheering on the Wild and will continue to see more of us in the future! We would like to encourage any fans to come say hello, we are always up for a chat!”

“With the new structure of the Management Team we are working on some really exciting developments and with more player announcements made each week, the coming season looks promising as we eagerly countdown to September.”

As well as the addition of the two new directors, and return of GM David Edwards, Ste Cunningham will also be joining the Management Team as Business Manager. A familiar face many of you will already know Ste as an avid Wild fan who has been supporting the team for many years now.

”After being a Wild fan for the past 5 seasons, the players, volunteers and fans have given so much to me and my family during that time; they have welcomed us with open arms. Once I saw the opportunity where I could give back to this great club, I felt it was only right to assist in its progress and development, and ultimately continue to build on the Wild’s legacy. After previously working in the entertainment leisure industry for 15 years in various roles, I believe my experience and skill set will help the club to reach its full potential.”, commented Ste.

Upon the appointment of Ste as Business Manager, Danny and Georgia added: “A couple of months ago Ste approached us with some enlightening ideas for the club. He wasn’t asking for any involvement, just presenting us with some thoughts that had come to him one sleepless night. We just couldn’t let the opportunity to bring Ste on-board pass us by. His enthusiasm when talking about the club and how to improve everything is inspiring and we are delighted to have him on board.”

Ste’s wife Heather has also agreed to take on the role of club secretary this season, helping to keep the club organised and efficient.

The whole of the Management Team is looking forwards to seeing all fans, old and new this coming season!
