Widnes Wild are pleased to confirm a partnership with local carbon fabric manufacturer Sigmatex, supported by key customer and global Ice Hockey stalwart CCM, in a deal that will see The Wild provided with the highest quality sticks for the 2023/24 season.
For well over 30 years, Sigmatex has been a pioneer in the design, development and manufacture of carbon fibre textiles to the composites industry. By achieving excellence in innovation, service level, quality and trust, we are driven to be the first-choice partner in high performance carbon fibre textiles.
CCM Hockey is a leading designer, manufacturer, and marketer of hockey equipment. With its headquarters located in Montreal, the company has operations in Canada, the United States, Europe and Asia. CCM Hockey equips more professional hockey players than any other company, including superstars like Connor McDavid, Auston Matthews, Sidney Crosby, Thatcher Demko, and Nathan MacKinnon, key female players such as Kendall Coyne-Schofield, Sarah Nurse and Taylor Heise. CCM Hockey is also the official outfitter of the American Hockey League, the Canadian Hockey League, and several NCAA and National teams.
Speaking to Katie Stoney, Project Manager at Sigmatex, Katie is delighted to be contributing to the on-ice success of the wild. ‘Sigmatex proudly announces our support for the Widnes Wild IHC demonstrated with a donation of high-quality CCM hockey sticks. These sticks are meticulously crafted using carbon materials manufactured at our Runcorn facility’ explained Katie.
‘At Sigmatex we truly understand the importance of supporting our local communities and readily embrace the responsibility to make a positive impact where we operate. Hockey embodies teamwork, resilience, and unity – values that mirror our own principles at Sigmatex. By extending our backing to Widnes Wild IHC we aim to strengthen the bonds within our community. Together, we’re working towards a brighter future for our community, one stick at a time.’
Similarly, CCM Senior Product Manager Mathieu Gatien is excited at the prospect of supporting the Wild and continuing to work with Sigmatex. ‘As one of our key manufacturing partners, Sigmatex has consistently been a part of CCM’s innovation and development efforts, thus we are excited to be able to support their initiative towards Widnes Wild IHC. We are thrilled to know that these players will be able to use the best products on their quest to on-ice success. We look forward to continuing to develop high performance products with Sigmatex and supporting their local initiatives.’
Wild Managing Director Danny Davies spoke of the new partnership with Sigmatex and CCM with a smile on his face! ‘I bet that not many people would realise that the ice hockey sticks that we use so many of each season, start off their life less than three miles away from our home rink in Runcorn at the Sigmatex UK factory.’ Danny marvelled.
‘After some productive discussions and brainstorming sessions towards the end of last season, Sigmatex have agreed to come on board and will supply the team with top quality sticks for the coming season. We look forward to working with Sigmatex and thank them massively for their support.’
