Widnes Wild are delighted to announce the signing of netminder #35 Luca Tessadri ahead of the 25/26 season!

Tessadri most recently iced with fellow Division 1 side, Leeds Knights 2 after missing the start of the season due to injury, In 7 performances for the side, he averaged an impressive 87.6% SA!

However, Luca is no stranger to Widnes fans having played 18 games in a Wild jersey throughout the 23/24 season with a 4.37 GA and 89.2% SA!

We can’t wait to see Luca back in Widnes threads this season!

Following his signing, Luca commented,

“I am really excited to come back to Widnes, a place that feels like home to me. I cant wait for the season to start and get back to playing and enjoying my hockey again. With missing significant amount of hockey, I know Widnes will trust me and actually support my development, getting myself back to my best – which this opportunity has been missed for the last few months.

Speaking to TJ over the summer it was clear decision to return back to Widnes and help push the team towards a successful season. I know most of the boys and they are a great group of people so I know it will be a good season which we are all looking forward to.

I’ve missed the fans that prove every week they are the best in the league and stick around and support the team no matter what. Can’t wait to see you all and coming back to the team that feel like family. I will see you all in September!”

Meanwhile, Head Coach Tom Jackson added,

“Luca has been a top priority for us to bring back into the team. He is no stranger to the club nor the group of players and he will be a key figure in the locker room and an essential part of the on ice product for us to progress forward on this seasons goals.

A highly skilled and reliable netminder who has habits of consistently standing on his head who can be a rock at the back right from the start of the season.

We are extremely excited to see what he has to offer to the team once again and the real buzz he brings in his character.”
