The YKK sponsored Widnes Wild are thrilled to announce the return of long-term defenseman and club captain, #84 Tom Jackson (TJ) for the 23/24 season.

This year marks a decade since TJ first signed for Widnes Wild at just 18 years old, and he has remained in a yellow jersey ever since. He developed through the Kingston Academy and went on to briefly play for the Hull Stingrays and Hull Jets in the NIHLD2 in his early career. During his time icing for the Wild, Tom has played 278 games, scoring 17 goals, assisting 61 times and racking up 313 PIMs. TJ has been a key player for Widnes over the years and was made club captain back in the 2021/22 season. He will be wanting to continue his contributions to the team both on and off ice this season.

Player-coach Joey Coulter stated the following on TJ’s return;

We have our unsung hero leading from the backline once again, Tom Jackson is back for the new season. TJ is a natural leader, when he talks everyone listens and everything he does is for the logo on the front of jersey. His injury at the back end of last year’s campaign was very unfortunate and I think it made everyone realise how crucial his presence on the ice is for us. The captain will be back healthy and ready to lead us towards silverware.

Whilst TJ himself added;

I’m happy to be back at the place I’ve called home for the 10th season, I’m excited to start the season and see the rink full of fans again! I look forward to seeing the fans back in and around the rink!
