Your YKK sponsored Widnes Wild are delighted to announce that #19 Calum Ruddick is back with the club for the 2023/24 season.
Calum, who first started playing ice hockey with the Flintshire Freeze, first joined the Wild in our inaugural season back in 2013 & remained with the club until 2016. After a small break from playing, Calum joined the Blackburn Hawks for a season, before returning to the Wild for the 22/23 season.
Head Coach, Joey Coulter, had the following to say about Calum: “Calum Ruddick is a proper hockey player, he values the team more than himself. Doesn’t hesitate throwing his body on line, whether it’s making hits or blocking shots – everything he does is for the team and the fans. I’m looking forward to working with the big man, I think he has another level in him that can have a serious impact on our success next season.”
Coulter added “He already has great vision on the puck and he’s got a heavy shot, something we got a taste of last season and we will definitely be looking to utilise it more this year.”
Meanwhile, Calum added about his new contract: “Firstly I hope everyone is having a good summer. I’m really happy to be returning to Widnes, it was great being back home last season. I can’t wait for the season to get going. See you all in September.”
