Widnes Wild are delighted to announce the signing of defenceman, #43 Will Daley for the 25/26 season from Whitley Warriors!
Daley returns to the Wild, having signed ahead of the 24/25 season and iced 12 games for the club before returning to his home side mid-way through the campaign due to unforeseen circumstances. Across his first senior season, Wug recorded 4 assists from 34 games alongside 4 PIMS.
Previously, Will shared multiple seasons between both Whitley Bay and Billingham before opting to move to Solway Sharks academy age 10. He then represented Scotland in conference tournaments at u11 and u13 level. Additionally, he was selected by Scotland to travel to Bratislava with both the u13 and u15 squads. Most recently, he also travelled to Finland as a member of the AAA England side in April 2024.
Following his return to Widnes, Wug commented,
“I’m really looking forward to being back at Widnes for the upcoming season. I can’t wait to play infront of the Wild fans again and get back with the players. Looking forward to seeing what the new season brings!”
Meanwhile, Head Coach Tom Jackson added,
“Will unfortunately had to leave us halfway through the 24-25 season due to circumstances away from peoples’ control. However, he was a player we wish we’d have never lost and was a top priority target to get back with us for the 25-26 season.
Will has a bright future ahead of him, an amazing player with a lot of heart and great work ethic. The team missed him when he had to leave as he made a lasting impression on all of the players in the dressing room which just shows how great a character Wug is.
He will be an important player for our team this coming season, Will brings a good playing style and is adaptable to situations, his skating ability is a true strength for him. Wug is a strong asset to have back in Widnes colours, an excellent defender who we can rely on.
I’m really looking forward to having him back in our line up for this season!”
Please join us in welcoming Wug back to Widnes!
