Widnes Wild are delighted to announce the signing of defenceman #85 Oli Howells for the 25/26 season!

Howells joins the Wild from fellow NIHL1 side, Solihull Barons where he recorded 4 points (1 goal + 3 assists) from 10 games alongside 16 PIMS after signing from our derby rivals, Deeside Dragons where he’d also spent the previous season.

Oli developed his skills through the Telford Tigers academy and progressed through to u18 level, before moving to Sheffield where he made his NIHL1 debut alongside completing his junior career.

Regarding his signing, Oli commented,

“I’m really excited to be playing this upcoming season for Widnes.

After speaking with TJ, it excites me how the roster is shaping up and hoping to have a competitive season and see the team grow and improve on the finishing position of last year.

I can’t wait for the season to get started and be playing in front of the fans! See you in September.”

Meanwhile Head Coach Tom Jackson added,

“We have watched Oli play for other clubs over the past couple years and each season he has developed and brings the same energy and tenacity every time he touches the ice.

I’m excited to be able to bring him to the organisation and am looking forward to seeing him develop further this year!”
